George Sexton Associates was contracted to do the illumination of the Star-Spangled Banner, the flag that inspired the national anthem. The strict conservation requirements of this textile artifact include precise control of quality, distribution, and uniformity of light for which GSA developed an innovative solution appropriating video projection technology for illumination. The exhibit is housed at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History in Washington, DC.
